Finding a Big Payoff For Your Local Knowledge....

As real estate professionals we all know the tremendous value of knowing what is good in your marketing area and what you find the public needs to know about if they decide to buy  and live in your niche area.

I have spoken to so many of my fellow agents about my blog here on ActiveRain and when I tell them they should at least try it most say "What in the world would I write about?" Most have no idea that all you have to do is sit down and make a list--literally, a list of the things that you enjoy doing and places you find are your favorites.

Then take that list and write around it, giving as much colorful detail and readable data as possible.

One of my fellow agents at Douglas Elliman and a dear friend Susan Hovdesven did just that:

http://susansfavoriteshamptons.com/  Make sure to click on the menu icon at the top right of her web page to find all kinds of goodies!

This is a brand new website and Susan is still working on some of the technical stuff (especially her SEO!) but I think it is a wonderful example of what you can do if you put the hard work into it.

This took her years of making notes and lists that she would give out to her clientele. She has fine-tuned all of it here on this site so that you can find any number of things to do while you are here visiting or if you decide to live here---a perfect tool for a real estate professional!

I suggest that we all can benefit from what we know--there are many ways to do it; this is just one  and a very good one indeed!

Paula - This is a great idea to reflect your knowledge of the local community.

Paula - some people like to write, and would be doing it with no return, and some people would't. And some believe they would only if the return is great... but how do htey know whether there is any, if they did not wrote... ever?

Troy: I think you are right! What a way to build your brand--huh???

Jon: I agree and many a writer has never known they can write until they do it! So bloggiing about the local fare is the best way I think---and it does pay off; I have many a listing and buyer to prove it!

Paula so many  folks are afraid, at first, to write a post. I hear that all the time too - what would  I write about?  I usually say - how many hours are in a day?  Duh!  I bet you can come up with at least 1 thing to write about! Just get started!

Anna: You bet---when I first started blogging it was pretty much throwing a dart at a dart board--and hoping I could formulate a "tale" worth publishing...didn't even know that was what I was doing. We have all come a long way I would say but I must admit that the most gratifying and valuable thing I learned here on AR is that local knowledge is the ticket--the ticket to the best results possible for a real estate blogger!
