GEORGICA MANSION AND CARRIAGE HOUSE IN EAST HAMPTON, NY...Original And Very Rare 1900's

I have not been on ActiveRain for some time now and when I ran into my neighbor today who tells me he reads my blog, I decided I need to get back into it!

I have been so busy that I have not found the time for any of the things I used to do to get my name out there---Blogging here on AR is just one of the many things I used to do, and because of time constraints, I cut out that part of my marketing strategy temporarily.

Here is why I have been away from AR for so long:

GREAT GEORGICA MANSION

I have been focusing upon the Village of East Hampton for the past few months; I just took a new listing there in the Georgica Pond area. This property is one of very few 1900's original mansions left here in the Hamptons--most have been destroyed to make room for the huge brand new homes that have filled the Villages and the farm fields!

 LIVING ROOM

The real surprise to me is that there is genuine interest in owning this 1902 Craftsman Style Mansion, and more and more people are coming to see it and to entertain the idea that they could actually live here and love it!

It has come to my attention that there are many people here who do NOT want what is cynically referred to as a "McMansion"; no they are looking for the real thing and they are willing to pay to get it!

This particular manse has it's own 2 bedroom one bath carriage house which is a separate residence, originally for the estate's Groomsman.

In the mansion, there are 7 porches all together. Two are screened in "sleeping porches" (a wonderful, if old fashioned idea of how to deal with the sultry nights of August!); a full, front entry covered porch with the traditional aqua painted floor boards. There is a "back" covered porch over the service entrance, a mahogany deck off the kitchen for the grill and there is a large "sun-room" or enclosed porch located off the formal living room, ready for a relaxing after-dinner retreat or a sun-filled winters day enjoyment...

And then there is the piece de resistance, the enclosed entry porch with original diamond shaped glass windows surrounding the pale sea green, diamond patterned, hand-painted wooden floors. It can take your breath away in it's beauty:

DIAMOND SHAPED WINDOWS AND PATTERNED FLOORS

This Georgica Mansion with it's own carriage house sits high and majestically on the treasured Apaquogue Road in the historical part of East Hampton Village. Said to be built on the highest point in the Georgica area, this 6000sf, 6 bedroom, 5.5 bath manse sits on an acre of meticulous grounds with gardens spilling over the rolling lawns to the very edge of the property. The 2 bedroom, 1 bath carriage house has been brought up to modern standards as has the house.

The plumbing, wiring and all the amenities are new within the last 10 years. There are 3 floors and a grade level or "walk-out" basement, reminiscent of Antebellum mansions of the South during the mid-18th and 19th century.

This is a stunning and grand example of what history has to offer if the proper care and attention are paid to the remaining 18th, 19th and 20th century houses across this land.

It is my greatest desire to make the public aware of what can be if we do not fall victim to the "hottest" trends in architecture and design. There is nothing wrong with wanting a large and roomy structure with all the luxury that comes with living in one. There is a way to do it in a more creative way, as is evidenced by this 1902 home.

I can now see that the possiblity does exist for the buying public to want to buy the treasured homes that once filled our bucollic communities, here in the Hamptons and elsewhere. let's make sure those homes will still be here when it comes time to invest in them!
