PAULA'S SOUTHAMPTON BLOG

BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN SOUTHAMPTON NEW YORK.....

I was taken a-back by a post I just read on some obscure website that was coming up on the front page of Google. The crux of the story was not to inform but to malign living in Southampton New York....The main idea on that site is to say that you should NEVER think of living in Southampton New York because it is too expensive!!! That is outrageous in it's simplistic idea that no one can afford to live here--so you should never move here!...and that was the total message and it was getting top-billing on Google!!!So, I have decided to set things straight, and below I have listed:

"BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN SOUTHAMPTON NEW YORK"

Southampton New York  is not only a beautiful New England town, it is the place where our ancestors first came ashore to settle Long Island. It is also the location of one of the most sophisticated and social Villages in all of Long Island, Souhamtpon Village....this is the first place that I will put at the very tip-top of the list of "Best Places To Live In Southampton New York"! IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE:

  1. Southampton Village New YorkSouthampton Village    Theplace to be in the summertime; many private parties and clubs to go to. The beaches are beautiful and this is the town where you will find the #1 beach in America! Coopers Beach is ranked the top ocean beach in the country! Worldclass restaurants and shops bring people from all over the world to meet here. Southamtpon Village is the only Hampton built right on the Atlantic ocean. When it comes time for homeowners to amke a mmove to the Hamptons--Southampton Village is the place they want to be. Parks and playgrounds abound here and the library is brand new and filled with literary delights for the children.

  1. Sagaponack VillageSagaponack Village  was founded in 2005 and quickly became one of the best places to buy real estate....even though prices doubled in 2006 and 2007 here,  they have since adjusted and reasonable deals are being done in his market. The Village proper is made up of 1 building for the post office and a food market. There is a one room school house here too--one of the last surviving of it's kind. It still functions as a school for local children here in this special place callled Sagaponack New York.

These 2 Villages are the best places to live in Southampton New York, and if you are ready to make the move, now is the time to make it! Prices are at a level not seen for some years--back at the '06 levels, prices have now stabilized and buyers are returning to the Villages to buy the house of their dreams! because they are located in easy proximity to the beaches, both Southampton and Sagaponack Villages are the pick of all the Hamlets!

The next thing to remember about the Hamptonsis that "North of the Highway" has a hint of being out-of-favor. This has essentially disappeared from the vocabulary, however, when a buyer wants to live South of the Highway, they will not even look North...so keep that in mind. If you are looking for great value and lots of land, now, you will only find it North of the Highway.(Unless you are counted in the small numbers of the wealthiest people in the world!)

  • Bridgehampton South
  • Water Mill South
  • Sag Harbor Village

These are the other areas that have become popular for most people who want to live in Southampton New York. They come mostly for the summer months, however, more and more people are looking to live here year round. We have an estimated 50% increase in year round residents since 2001. That is significant! Year round residency means an entirely different use of the infrastructure and the village is becoming more and more like a city and may be the next designation for this quaint little place if the population continues to grow!

WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO SOUTHAMPTON NEW YORK!!!
