HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!!!...After A Year Of Loss, I Feel Like I Can Make It!

Let me think; This is the year that wasn't for me! I was followed by a sense of loss all year and it has kept it's grip right up to the last few weeks of this year---I am glad to see 2013 go!

My best friend and loving Yogi left me last week to be with the angels--he left after 14 years of an ever present and huge personality that filled every room in my house and every chamber in my heart!

He had 3 years of suffering and even though he was very sick at the end, he was destined to leave this year after seeing me through the most difficult of all the years of my life.

I have never had anyone or anything in my life who made me feel so loved. I never thought I would ever say that about a dog but he was there for me, protective of me like no one ever has been.

During the dark days of fear that I was about to lose everything--the interminable self examination that I was going through as I sat on the brink of personal failure---these were the times when Yogi was most present---He sat alongside me as I went through those awful times; pressed up against my left side, he made me feel OK somehow in spite of the ever-present feeling of fear.

Yes, he was just a dog but I challenge anyone who has ever had a dog in his/her life to tell me that a dog does not matter...that they are just animals and incapable of understanding human beings and their foibles.

Yes, they are "just" dogs; yes Yogi was a handful...but he was present in my life at all times and he has left the biggest hole in my heart.

Nothing will make it feel better--nothing will make it go away, this pain I have in my being. I can only hope that time will heal this gaping wound.

Now as I go forward into 2014 I have a sense of well-being that I have never had before. I had a pal, a friend in trials and tribulations and he will always be there next to me, my left side where I can still feel his warm little body as I wait for the New Year, for 2014 to arrive.

I can sincerely say I am a better person for having had Yogi with me for 14 years...and I can truthfully say that we should all have such a wonderful creature in our lives!

HAVE A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR IN 2014!!
