Part III of a series about the real use of Facebook
Apparently the struggles FB has been having with privacy complaints is quickly changing the "face" of Facebook. I may be off base here but it is beginning to look more and more like use of FB has taken a radical turn...
The dialog about this huge website is turning defensive and I believe that the challenges in other countries right now, with the uprisings in Egypt and surrounding countries make this a more timely subject matter. The use of social networks has created a delicate balance between people--while these sites are used without any fear of harm by most, there are those who are concerned about their privacy and their personal safety.
Are there other objectives for this site? Is the "social" aspect of Facebook now an international "forum of unrest" across the globe? Maybe I am over-reacting---maybe my bad experience on FB has slanted my point of view???
OK, so I did go back on Facebook and gave it another try; after getting another comment on my other Facebook post of months ago: http://actvra.in/44s, I decided to take the risk of going back and making another good old college try at the most popular Social Website in history!!!
I was not impressed---so maybe I am doing something wrong???
I am still at a loss as to the real use of this place--am I missing something? I was thrown by the reports of the fact that FB is the number one "Social" website in the world----makes me wonder how this could be.......
Then, after seeing the crowds as they gather to collectively express themselves in Tunisia and then Egypt, and witnessing the shut down of Facebook as just one of the crucial communication sources there, I find myself wondering even more about the power of this "social" website.---Is it possible FB creates chaos between people rather than a simple way to communicate?....that it may be a "Forum of Unrest"? What do you think?
If Facebook has become a place to communicate for the unhappy multitudes in other countries, how does that effect the use of it in our own backyard? Does Facebook become a more unruly place right here? I think it is pretty unruly already and I know others who share my point of view.
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION?
DOES FACEBOOK HAVE ANOTHER AGENDA???
ARE OTHER "SOCIAL" NETWORKS AS CONTROVERSIAL ???
IS LINKEDIN A BETTER "SOCIAL" NETWORK FOR BUSINESS???
ARE ALL SOCIAL NETWORKS USEFUL FOR DOING BUSINESS???
