This is the best post I have read all year: Slipping into 2014 by Patricia Kennedy, is full of the right sort of verbal incentives to make the right changes in your fitness and your day to day activities.
I mean it---the point Patricia is making here is not only concise and very relevant, it is also life saving.
I started to take my fitness seriously again after having knee issues too--then after my dog got old and sick I kind of used that excuse to become less than active-(ok, a couch potato!)
Now, I have found a way to gain back a healthy lifestyle that includes a serious workout and long walks again! Healthy eating habits (organic is a must for me now!) and a 14 day intensive dietary detox to get rid of years of not eating carefully: chemical food additives, pesticide loaded and GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) foods gave me aches and pains that I could no longer live with.
So, now I am on my way to having more energy and feeling healthier than I have in 20 years--and the big plus is I have dropped 20 pounds in the process! It seems that the body will hold on to toxins forever in our body fat (killing us in the process) simply because it does not know what to do with toxic substances!!! These are toxins that the body has no way to get rid of except through stringent dietary habits and certain detoxifying practices like drinking an extreme amount of water!
Toxins are foreign substances that, through no fault of our own, are found in almost all the food we ingest. Only grass-fed meats and certified organic foods do not contain toxins.
I will no longer eat something if I don't know what it contains.
After 3 months now of following a rather rigorous and focused practice of eating only those things that I know do NOT contain a lot of sugar, grains (whole wheat in particular), dairy, refined flour, non-organic meat, fruits and produce, I am a new person!
My knees no longer bother me and the arthritis I thought I had is now down the drain, literally! I have been following a "Paleo" sort of diet at the suggestion of my Doctor and she is a big proponent of no dairy, all organic, and lots of water.
TRY IT! ...YOU WILL LIKE IT! Look up Paleo diet.com for a way to follow this way of eating! And don't forget: Eat organic food only! IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE!
